| As a child I enjoyed drawing and painting. So it followed naturally that I would study art at Kutztown University. After two years of study, I decided that I wanted join the Foreign Service and see the world. I changed my major to Political Science and went on to get a MA in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania. Time passed. I couldn't travel, so I wrote two novels (unpublished) and tried law school (dropped out). In 1984 my husband and I moved to North Heidelberg township, and the lovely countryside inspired me to return to art. To help me brush up on my skills I studied with Irene Dobson, Mary Lou Creyts, and Judith Krieger. At heart my work is simply a journal of my days in the country. The flowers and plants in the garden provide ever changing colors and shapes. The walks taken with the dogs open up other worlds. The poem on my home page is dedicated to our first dog, Thegn, a Scottish Deerhound. Walking him daily through the woods on Mount Penn opened my eyes to the marvels of the natural world. Since then my dogs and I have walked many miles together. They stand or sit patiently by my side while I take photographs and sketch...and if I take too long they lie down. When I decide a scene requires a tripod, they wait in the car. No one walks alone and I thank those who have accompanied me on my daily journey...my husband, Dan, and our dogs: Thegn and Gwyn, Taoiseac and Gille, Penny and Creg, and now, Nikki. A special thanks for minding the hearth goes to Boru,(sadly gone) and Lolly Willowes...our cats. |
Exhibitions in which my art has been displayed include the Berks Art Alliance Juried Show, Goggleworks Juried Exhibition, group shows in Berks County, and a one-person show at the Reading Area Community College. My work can be found in private collections in the United States, Canada, and Europe. |
